Registration is now closed
for the 2006-07 professional
development series, Assessing for Learning.
After
analyzing data from the 2005-06 Benchmark Assessments, SDE and
WIN staff determined there are six areas of weakness: main
idea, inference, figurative language, stylistic elements, point
of view, and vocabulary. WIN consultants will provide
instructional strategies to help teachers improve student
achievement with special emphasis on these six areas of weakness
during the year-long series of regional sessions.

Of the 31
participating schools, 13 have registered for onsite services
with WIN consultants. Each of these 13 schools will receive 6
school-level sessions between October 2006 and March 2007.
WIN consultants are
developing support documents that will provide additional
information related to each regional session. These notebooks
will be available at the January sessions.
